My journey has been a long one since having my stroke a little more than a year ago. I spent some time in the inpatient rehab unit, almost two months, under the care of the team and Dr. Jain. I was in a wheelchair at first and I couldn’t do anything. I couldn’t even walk. I don’t even remember coming here from the hospital. I just woke up and I was here. I could understand what people were saying, but I couldn’t say what I wanted to say back to them. I worked with PT, OT and ST and I got better each day. The nurses and aides were good. I was in a bit of pain, but the team managed my pain well. The therapists were great! I was an all-year long landscaper and I was going to the gym before this happened. I wanted to get better. After being discharged from the inpatient unit, I went home with the support of my family. I decided to return to Lawrence for Outpatient Therapy to continue to work on my deficits. Priya, Ranu and Dee are really good! I just started working with OT again to continue to work on my hand. I am still working on getting stronger and I am working now on not having to need my carbon fiber AFO! This place has gotten me through everything, literally. As I continue to get better, I will come up with new goals to work towards. I would like to come every single day!! You would need to hire more staff though!! They are really doing a great job with me. When I got sick, I almost didn’t have a future. I don’t know how this happened, but it can happen to anyone. I would absolutely recommend Lawrence to anyone in need of rehab!
